Blose leads Owasso girls track to 4th place finish in conference

OWASSO — Jennah Blose won the 100-meter hurdles by clocking 16.81 seconds while Da’Nay Rowland finished first in the discus by throwing 121 feet, 2 inches, leading the host Owasso Lady Rams to a fourth-place finish in the Frontier Conference Track and Field Championships.

Union’s overall balance won the team title, but the Rams were strong in the hurdles, sprints and throws. Blose also placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (52.30) and Rowland took second in the shot put (36-10). Savannah Waters threw 36-3 for third in the shot and 115-2 for second in the discus.

Tiana Humphrey crossed third in the 100-meter dash in 12.58 seconds and fourth in the 200 in 26.74. August Brooks cleared 9-feet for second in the pole vault with Anna Dorrell third at 8-6.

“Blose is the most consistent girl we have. She qualified (for state) in both hurdles last year,’’ said Owasso coach Steve Parker. “She’s got a chance to be regional champion and she would almost have to fall down not to win.

“Da’Nay has qualified in the shot and discus for three years and she would be really disappointed not to qualify again in both events. Both Da’Nay and Savannah are throwing well right now and they have a chance to medal (at state) if they continue throwing well.’’

Parker said Humphrey has also been a consistent finisher, taking second or third all season in the 100 and placing in the 200. She will anchor the Rams’ 400 and 800 relays at the regional meet.

In other conference finishes, fifth places were taken by Mikaela Alwert in the 400 at 62.59 and Tori Hert in the 1,600 at 5:43. The 3,200-meter relay team placed fourth with the 400, 800 and 1,600 placing fifth.
