Man who led police on a high- speed chase sentenced to 56 years

TULSA —

A man involved in a high-speed car chase beginning in Owasso has been sentenced by a Tulsa County District Court judge to more than 50 years in prison.
Rocky Todd Nail, 47, of Broken Arrow received a 56-year prison sentence earlier this month by Judge Kurt Glassco, based on his convictions earlier this month connected to the incident.
In May 2011, Nail led law officers from multiple agencies on a vehicle chase which began in Owasso and ended in downtown Tulsa, near the Mayfest celebration in progress at the time.
Owasso police had tried to pull over the tanker truck which Nail was driving, but he refused to comply, giving chase southward on U.S. 169 into Tulsa.
Following his apprehension and subsequent arrest, criminal charges were later filed against Nail, including one count of eluding law officers, two counts of running a roadblock, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of running a red light, all of which he was convicted earlier this month.
Glassco sentenced Nail to 25 years on the eluding charge, 15 years each on the two roadblock charges and one year on the drug paraphernalia charge, with his periods of incarceration set to run consecutively.
Additionally, the court also levied a total of more than  $12,000 in fines.
Nail was acquitted of charges of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, and the court dismissed before trial a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Nail has been incarcerated since the time of his initial arrest.
